Inspiring Others to Lead

Over the past month, I’ve had the joy of inspiring others to lead in the community.  It has been extremely rewarding to give back to local schools and Latinas in Technology, share my experiences, encourage people to follow their dreams and make a difference.

Earlimart Middle School invited me back to speak at their Annual Career Day Event and educate their 6th, 7th and 8th graders on how to create a roadmap for success.  It was fascinating to plant the seed with these students and provide inspirational messages, goal setting examples and discuss my education.

This year’s California Scholarship Federation Regional Conference was held at El Diamante High School and I was impressed with this group of forward-thinking high school students.  They were eager to hear my story, discover the use of digital marketing to start building their portfolios and begin chipping away at their lifelong goals.  I emphasized the importance of nurturing their dreams and why never giving up on them is essential to their future.

After devoting the last 2 years of my life to obtaining my Executive MBA at Fresno State, I was given an opportunity to give back and speak to the 2013 pledge class of Alpha Kappa Psi.  They are the oldest and largest professional business fraternity recognized as the premier developer of business leaders.  I educated on the benefits of social media for professional development and the do’s and don’ts of social media.  Since they’re a business leader group, the meat and potatoes of the presentation was on LinkedIn and how to fully optimize their account.

In addition to being honored at the Latinas in Technology Expo, I had the pleasure of speaking to over 150 community business leaders and share the adversity I’ve gone through to get where I am today.  Never forgetting where I came from, I planted my roots deep in the community I was born and raised in, nurtured my goals and dreams, and am now harvesting on the benefits of giving back to others.

I encourage you to start inspiring others to lead.  Your story will resonate with those who are meant to hear your message and as long as it makes a difference to one person, you’ve done your share of reaping what you sowed.
