Pursue Your Passion
Over the course of your career, you’re more likely to find yourself on a path that fills you with pride if you follow your heart and listen to your gut. Being smart and intuitive will inevitably steer you in the right direction and help you execute long-term goals.
There are a lot of people who have accumulated numerous accolades, but if they’re not doing something they love or find fulfilling, these awards don’t hold significant value. Each of us has a shelf life but we don’t know what our expiration date is. So don’t settle for any job that comes your way or waste your time on one that makes you miserable. If you know it’s not in alignment with your overall career aspirations or it doesn’t match up with any of your interests, then it’s not the right fit.
A well-crafted career is being proud of where you’ve come from, what you’ve achieved and where you’re headed. Your overall level of happiness with your career choice is completely up to you. If you’re not proud to talk about what you do for a living, it’s time to re-evaluate what you’re doing. Sometimes this means taking risks but it’s worth it to chase after a dream. Doing so might inspire you to take more chances in the future.
Don’t get me wrong, my job isn’t always hearts and candies, but every job has its ups and downs. Each day is full of challenges, which allows me to acquire new skills, grow, increase product knowledge and constantly learn things about myself. The fire within is still blazing and having a career with some bragging rights is a direct reflection of staying conformed to my goals.
Find the hidden potential in yourself like businesses find in new products and talent scouts find in athletes. Learning from those who have journeyed down a similar path can offer you comfort when you’re faced with tough decisions or new responsibilities. These are touchstones that can help you get there with your integrity intact.
If you develop the same radical inclusivity toward your career as you do everything else you focus on, you’ll be amazed at what you manifest.
