Step up Your Game in 2014

Now that the holidays are behind us, the New Year always seems to bring new goals.  It’s a chance for a new beginning, a time to reflect on accomplishments, and a great way to get organized.  Jump starting the year with a fresh perspective and renewed energy is a perfect opportunity to step up your game and accelerate your life.

The best way to start is by knowing your goals.  Doing this will also allow you to reflect on where you are in your life, how you’ve gotten there, where you want to go, and how you plan to get there.

If people around you are also establishing goals, share each other’s enthusiasm and energy to stay committed.   When we tell others about our goals (short-term and long-term) it helps hold us accountable for our actions and to get things accomplished.

Hitting the restart button in 2014, is like saying goodbye to the attitude of someday and saying hello to the attitude of now.  Living now is all about being present in the moment and doing what needs to be done, instead of putting it off until who knows when.

In today’s fast-paced digital society, we’re so rushed that we forget to live our lives in the now.   Other things become a priority and the culture of delay steers many off track.  If you’re waiting for the perfect conditions to get started on things, you will never get anything done.

Instead of daydreaming about the things you want, make a list and divide your goals into small steps so you have a roadmap.  The key to stepping up your game is to get started today.  The motivational fairy isn’t going to show up and sprinkle motivational dust on you.  It’s up to you to make changes and motivation follows action.

Whatever you decide to do this month will determine the tone for the rest of the year.  So live everyday with purpose, learn not to dwell on negative encounters and focus on positive experiences instead.  Make the New Year a year of action and it will set you up for more success now and in the future.  It’s time to step up your game in 2014!
