Role Overview

Marketing Manager

2007–2009

Promoted: Marketing Agent → Marketing Manager

Scope: Timeshare promotions & field marketing across Southern California

Started as a Marketing Agent and rose to Marketing Manager in under a year—transforming a front-line sales role into a launchpad for brand partnerships, bold promotions, and high-conversion field strategy.

From courtside Lakers activations to adult expo campaigns for adventurous couples, I built high-visibility experiences designed to turn heads first and tours second—connecting the right audience to the right offer, and converting attention into bookings, revenue, and a few unforgettable client stories.

Impact & Achievements

Lakers to Leads

  • Partnered with the Lakers, Clippers, Kings, Ducks, Dodgers, and Galaxy (Home Depot Center at the time) — plus Staples Center, Honda Center, Live Nation/House of Blues, Knott’s Berry Farm, Santa Anita Racetrack, UCLA and USC football, the Rose Bowl, and LA/OC/IE county fairs — executing high-impact sponsorships and live promotions that drove visibility and qualified leads.

  • Turned brand-name partnerships into real field-marketing opportunities — using high-traffic activations and entertainment-driven promotions to connect premium audiences with the Welk experience.

  • Worked as an approved marketing partner across venues, offering qualified couples free vacations, bonus game or concert tickets, or a wine-tasting tour for completing a Welk Resorts tour in Escondido — plus their refundable deposit back.

  • Hit and surpassed individual and team goals — including exceeding team goal by 10% — by attracting pre-qualified, high-net-worth couples and converting curiosity into booked tours, and booked tours into revenue.

  • Drove qualified tour bookings by meeting high-net-worth crowds and niche audiences where they were — in electrifying venues that had a pulse of their own — and securing a deposit after a 30-second pitch, refundable once they showed at the resort in Escondido.

Field-Proven Leadership

  • Recruited, trained, and led high-performing marketing teams focused on presence, pitch, and placement across fast-paced field environments.

  • Built a culture of confidence by mentoring reps on body language, objection handling, and the mental toughness to approach strangers, no matter how many no's came first.

  • Promoted from Marketing Agent to Marketing Manager in under a year, in recognition of strong results, leadership, and ROI-driven strategy.

  • Recognized with a company-wide Appreciation Award for outstanding contributions, loyalty, and dedication to the Welk mission.

  • After six years of 12-hour Gold’s days, I genuinely loved the change of pace — in by 4, doors open at 4:30, working the pre-game rush through halftime and post-game, usually wrapping by 9 or 9:30. Overtime and extra innings could stretch for hours, and no event was ever the same — unless it was Knott’s Berry Farm.
